Respiratory Therapy Program at San Joaquin Valley College Named a Top Online Program for Overall Value
San Joaquin Valley College (SJVC), a family-owned college, is proud to announce that its online Bachelor of Science Respiratory Therapy degree completion (BSRT) program was ranked one of the top online respiratory programs by Intelligent.com.
Intelligent.com, an editorially independent research organization and educational website, recently profiled and rated some of the nation’s top colleges and universities with online Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degree programs in respiratory therapy.
The research included 67 universities and colleges with 293 different online respiratory therapy programs. Each program’s faculty, cost, flexibility and course strength was determined to calculate a score based on a scale of 0 to 100. All of the programs reviewed can be completed online, although the schools may offer their courses on-campus as well.
“SJVC’s online BSRT program is particularly well-suited for students who are already practicing Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs),” said President of SJVC, Nick Gomez. “It can take a licensed practitioner to the next level by providing them with the skills they need to be a supervisor or manager,” added Gomez. “The RRT to BSRT degree completion program is also designed for students who may not be used to an online environment. The specialized structure we offer at SJVC can really accommodate the busy schedules of working RRTs.”
According to analysts at Intelligent.com, more respiratory therapists will be needed to diagnose and treat older adults who suffer from respiratory conditions including pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which according to the World Health Organization, will be the third leading cause of death worldwide by 2030, increasing the need for respiratory therapists.
SJVC’s online BSRT program is offered online and takes approximately 15 months to complete. The program is designed for the working respiratory therapist who has graduated from an associate-level degree Respiratory Therapy program and is looking for career advancement opportunities in leadership, education, research and critical care in the field of Respiratory Care.
