Cordova Strong! SJVC Rancho Cordova Hosts Virtual Commencement Ceremony
The SJVC Rancho Cordova campus hosted a virtual commencement ceremony on Oct. 30, 2020, celebrating the academic success of students from both the Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Technology programs.
Students from Respiratory Therapy cohorts (36, 37 and 38) and Surgical Technology cohorts (2 and 3) both celebrated their success via a remote live-stream in light of an in-person commencement ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony included a reading of each graduate’s name and remarks from several campus leaders.
Graduates from the Surgical Technology program at SJVC Rancho Cordova demonstrated a strong understanding and implementation of important skills required for a successful career in surgical technology. They worked in a simulated operating room environment while participating in clinical rotations, giving them direct experience in a medical/surgical environment.
Graduates of the Respiratory Therapy program demonstrated the ability to perform clinically as a competent advanced-level respiratory therapist while earning Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support Provider (PALS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certifications.
“A special thank you to the Rancho Cordova faculty and staff for your unremitting teamwork and dedication to our students,” said Amy Bianco, Campus Director at SJVC Rancho Cordova. “Our students were so happy to be able to share this moment with their family and friends. The feedback I received was heartfelt appreciation for efforts to recognize and celebrate their accomplishments during these unfamiliar times,” added Bianco. “This day would not have been possible without each and every one of you. Cordova Strong!”
