SJVC Interview with Employer Papillon Helicopters
Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters is the largest and most experienced Grand Canyon helicopter tour company in the world. They’ve been flying guests on daily tours since 1965, and the immersive experience they offer is unrivaled by any other tour company.
But there’s a lot of work in maintaining a fleet of helicopters for a business that depends on them. Most mechanics are considered generalists who work on a variety of aircraft, such as jets, airplanes and helicopters, but there are plenty of different aviation jobs.
Some mechanics specialize in a single type of aircraft—such as a helicopter mechanic—or specialize in systems—such as the engine, hydraulic system or electrical system. Aircraft mechanics and service technicians have the ability to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul aircraft engines and assemblies, such as hydraulic and pneumatic systems, which often include helicopter engine specialists.
To learn more about this profession and why Papillon Helicopters likes to hire graduates from SJVC’s Aviation Maintenance Technology program, we spoke with Mitch Sacco, Administrative Assistant to Accountable Manager at Papillon Helicopters. Check out the video below!
