Surgical Technology Graduate’s work published
When Michael Bagtas graduated from SJVC’s Fresno campus in November of 2012, he could have disappeared from the educational scene, content to work in his career field with his new Associate’s Degree.
However, this Surgical Technology graduate continues to involve himself in his field beyond simply working. He is a member of the AST, or the Association of Surgical Technologists.
A degree is necessary for employment, but it is not the only thing. Surgical technologists who wish to continue working in their field must maintain their qualifications over the years.
This is where the Association of Surgical Technologists can help. Providing opportunities for continuing education, the organization helps keep surgical technologists in the game, working but continuing to learn and hone their skills.
As an active member, Michael wrote an article of his own to be published in the association’s monthly periodical: The Surgical Technologist.
SJVC prides itself on the outstanding work of its students and graduates. We hope to continue to see former students like Michael involved in the professional organizations specific to their fields.
Keep up the good work, Michael.
His article can be accessed by AST members in the March 2014 edition of The Surgical Technologist.
