Medical & Dental Programs
Clinical Medical Assisting
As a Clinical Medical Assistant, you will work with patients, physicians, and other medical office staff by completing a wide range of clinical and administrative tasks. The Clinical Medical Assisting program at SJVC’s Madera campus allows you to learn basic skills, such as:
- Taking patient vitals
- Updating patient records
- Scheduling appointments
- Preparing patients for exams
- Administering injections and medications

Pursue a career in Clinical Medical Assisting by earning a Certificate of Completion in as little as nine months or an Associate of Science Degree in as few as 15 months at one of our nearby campuses or online. Upon graduation, you will be eligible to sit for the National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) exam offered by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
SJVC prepares students to take appropriate certification and licensure exams related to their individual majors. Graduates may qualify for other certifications depending upon location and placement requirements. The College does not guarantee students will successfully pass these exams or be certified or licensed as a result of completing the program.

The campus offers accelerated programs for students interested in working as a medical assistant, medical office administrator or business office administrator. Conveniently located right off the 99, across from the Madera District Fairgrounds, our Madera college campus helps students prepare for the careers they want in the medical and business fields.
