SJVC’s Vocational Nursing program in Rancho Mirage prepares students with the training and skills needed for success. After you complete the program, you’ll be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).

Electrical Technology
The Electrical Technology program at SJVC’s Rancho Mirage campus focuses on teaching students about electricity, electrical equipment, and the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. Whether you’re learning about electrical blueprint reading or motor controls, we have everything you need to begin an entry-level career in Electrical Technology. You can earn a Certificate of Completion in as few as ten months.
Graduates are eligible to take the California General Electrician’s Certification Exam, administered by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DiR). In order to be certified as a General Electrician in the State of California, pursuant to certification standards established by the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement, an applicant must pass a certification examination and complete 8000 hours of work for a C-10 electrical contractor installing, constructing, or maintaining electrical systems covered by the National Electrical Code.

SJVC prepares students to take appropriate certification and licensure exams related to their individual majors. The College does not guarantee students will successfully pass these exams or be certified or licensed as a result of completing the program.
View ProgramHeating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC-R)
HVAC-R technicians work on heating, ventilation, cooling, and refrigeration systems in a variety of buildings and homes. Their duties and responsibilities can include:
- Designing, testing, and setting up wiring
- Overseeing system installations
- Providing technical support to customers
- Repairing and maintaining HVAC-R equipment
- Ensuring that customer service needs are met
The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning,and Refrigeration (HVAC/R) program in Rancho Mirage provides students with hands-on training and skills necessary for a residential or commercial HVAC-R career. San Joaquin Valley College’s Rancho Mirage location was founded in 2020. Our innovative campus is located in the heart of the Coachella Valley and serves students from Yucca Valley to Salton City.
The Rancho Mirage Campus features well-trained instructors and hands-on learning in an enriching environment. SJVC was founded more than 40 years ago in response to a growing need for local medical assistants by Robert and his wife Shirley Perry, who was one of the first Certified Medical Assistants in the State of California. Students at the Rancho Mirage location can follow in that legacy, pursuing a number of medical, dental, business and trades education programs.
